Postural Rehab + Chronic Pain, Richmond BC

Move Like You Did

Chronic pain and postural dysfunction usually share a common driver: the body has adapted to patterns (desk work, sedentary life, repetitive load) and lost the movement capacity it used to have. Winston Yeung's approach combines hands-on work, movement retraining, and progressive strength under actual training conditions. That combination is where most clinical settings fall short.

Frequently Asked

Postural Rehab and Chronic Pain Physio, Answered

Can physiotherapy fix my posture?

Yes, but not the way most people assume. Posture is not a static thing to be corrected. It is a product of strength, mobility, and daily movement habits. Lasting postural change comes from building strength in the right places (deep neck flexors, mid-traps, glutes, deep core), mobility where you are stiff, and consistency over 8 to 16 weeks. Winston's approach emphasises building capacity, not just telling you to sit up straight.

Why does my body keep hurting in the same places?

Recurrent pain in the same locations usually reflects an underlying movement pattern or strength imbalance that has not been addressed. Temporary relief from manual therapy or rest is the body quieting down, but the driver is still there. The fix is identifying the pattern and rebuilding capacity through progressive loading. This is exactly what Winston's in-gym setup is designed for.

How long does chronic pain take to resolve with physio?

It depends on how long the pattern has been there. Pain present for weeks typically resolves in 4 to 8 sessions. Pain present for months usually needs 8 to 16 sessions and 2 to 4 months of consistent home exercise. Pain present for years is not necessarily a life sentence but needs patience and a progressive plan. Most clients see meaningful change within the first month when they commit to the program.

Can I do strength training with chronic pain?

Usually yes, and often progressive strength training IS the treatment for chronic pain. The key is calibrated loading that challenges the body to adapt without flaring symptoms. Fittopia's in-gym setup means Winston can take you from the assessment table directly to the squat rack or cable machine and coach appropriate loading in the same session.
