How It Works
Three Steps at Your First Visit
01
Bring Your Benefits Card
Arrive at your appointment with your insurance card or policy info. That is all we need to set up direct billing.
02
We Submit in Real Time
After your session, Winston's front desk submits the claim through the secure billing portal. Most insurers respond within seconds.
03
You Pay Only the Balance
You pay the uncovered portion (if any). For most clients with typical coverage, that is a small copay or nothing.
Frequently Asked
Direct Billing, Answered
What is direct billing for physiotherapy?
Direct billing means the physiotherapy clinic submits your insurance claim directly to your provider on your behalf, and you only pay the portion your plan does not cover (if any). No paperwork, no waiting for reimbursement. Bring your benefits card to your first appointment and the clinic handles the rest.
Which insurance providers does Fittopia direct-bill?
Fittopia physiotherapy with Winston Yeung direct-bills to Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance, Desjardins Insurance, Empire Life Insurance, Equitable Life, GreenShield Insurance, Manulife, MEDIC Construction Insurance, Pacific Blue Cross PROVIDERnet, RBC Insurance, SSQ Insurance, and Sun Life. That is 11 of the largest Canadian extended health providers.
How does direct billing work at Fittopia?
Bring your benefits card to your first appointment. Winston's front desk will enter your information into the secure billing portal. After your session, they submit the claim in real time. Most insurers respond within seconds. You pay only the uncovered portion (if any). No forms to fill out, no waiting for reimbursement cheques.
How do I know if my plan covers physiotherapy?
Most Canadian extended health plans include physiotherapy coverage, often ranging from $300 to $1500 per year depending on the plan. Coverage varies substantially. Call your insurance provider or check your benefits booklet before your first appointment. If unsure, call Fittopia at (236) 454-6868 and the front desk can help you verify with a quick pre-check.
Do I need a doctor's referral for direct billing?
Not for the physiotherapy itself (BC has direct access to physio). However, some insurance plans require a physician referral to reimburse. Check your benefits booklet, or ask your provider. If required, any walk-in clinic or GP can provide one.
What if my insurance is not on the direct-billing list?
You can still see Winston. Many plans not on the direct-billing list still cover physiotherapy, they just require you to pay at the time of service and submit the claim yourself. Winston provides a detailed receipt immediately for easy submission.
Are there any fees for direct billing?
No. Direct billing is a free service Fittopia provides. You pay only for the physiotherapy session, and only the portion your plan does not cover.
Does Winston accept ICBC or WorkSafe BC?
No. Winston does not accept ICBC motor vehicle accident claims or WorkSafe BC workplace injury claims. Clients with those claims are better served by clinics contracted with those insurers. Winston specialises in private physiotherapy for extended health clients.
How much does physio at Fittopia cost out of pocket?
Initial assessments are typically 60 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 30 to 45 minutes. Current rates are posted at the clinic and available by phone at (236) 454-6868. With direct billing and typical extended health coverage, most clients pay a small copay or nothing at all per session, up to their annual limit.
